(WALLINGFORD, Conn., October 24, 2024) — Masonicare at Ashlar Village senior living community became the third Purple Flag™ community nationwide to celebrate its reaccreditation in dementia care. With this flag-raising, Masonicare becomes the first multi-location provider to achieve multiple reaccreditations. Masonicare at Mystic also achieved reaccreditation earlier this month.
Masonicare at Ashlar Village earned Purple Flag accreditation in 2021, which helped establish it as a leader in dementia care. Purple Flag has seen tremendous growth nationwide since then, with 32 accredited communities now flying the Purple Flag.
“With Masonicare’s intentional mission to reaccredit multiple communities, it shows these accreditations accomplish our goal of cutting-edge memory care support,” said Christopher Carter, Purple Flag CEO and President, CALA. “Masonicare at Ashlar Village’s Reaccreditation confirms the community’s steadfast and unwavering goal to create the best quality of life for their residents.”
Purple Flag for Dementia Care is an accreditation program with established standards for assessing an organization’s ability to provide collaborative care for persons living with dementia in a safe, functional and respectful environment. The program was initially developed through a joint effort between the Institute for Senior Living Education (ISLE) and the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) to ensure memory care residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia receive the highest quality care and enhanced quality of life. Since its establishment, Purple Flag has grown to evaluate all levels of senior care and provider environments.
As part of the reaccreditation process, Masonicare at Ashlar Village had to demonstrate compliance and resourcefulness to the 10 Best Practice Program Standards and trainings outlined by Purple Flag for services provided to individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Masonicare at Ashlar Village is the third among the Purple Flag communities to have met the standards to elevate care quality for all residents a second time. Other communities plan to follow with more reaccreditations.
“This achievement confirms our belief in the Purple Flag organization,” said Rachael Laudano, Executive Director Assisted Living, Masonicare at Ashlar Village. “It’s a testament to the quality of life and individualized care our Masonicare at Ashlar Village residents continue to receive every day. The systematic training our staff has acquired allows us to remain at the forefront of assisted living communities offering dementia care.”
